Above & Beyond Aviation is one of Austin's longest-standing and most respected flight schools, founded by longtime Austin resident George Farris roughly 24 years ago. The school operates out of two convenient Austin locations — Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (KAUS) at Atlantic Aviation, and Austin Executive Airport (EDC) in Pflugerville — giving students flexibility in where they train. The school operates a fleet of 12 Cessna 172s spread across both campuses, along with a Piper Arrow and G1000-equipped aircraft. Two flight simulators are available — a Flythisim at Austin Bergstrom and a Redbird sim at Austin Executive — supporting instrument training and ground school curriculum. Training is conducted on an appointment-only basis with six instructors on staff. Programs include private pilot, instrument rating, commercial pilot, certified flight instructor (CFI), advanced night flying, and aerobatic training. The school emphasizes affordability and accessibility, aiming to make flight training available to as many students as possible. Introductory flights over downtown Austin are available for discovery students.
