About Curtis Eads Flight School

Curtis Eads Flight School (CEFS) is the oldest continuously active Part 61 flight school in southeastern Virginia, operating since 1955. They have two locations: the main office at Suffolk Executive Airport (KSFQ) and a satellite operation at Newport News-Williamsburg International Airport (KPHF). CEFS focuses on training dedicated aviation enthusiasts to fly safely, offering primary and advanced flight training and aircraft rental to English-proficient U.S. citizens. They do not offer light sport pilot training, sight-seeing flights, or training to foreign nationals. CEFS provides training for various ratings, including Private Pilot, Commercial Pilot, Instrument Pilot, Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), and Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII). They also offer endorsements for High Performance, Complex, and tailwheel aircraft. The school emphasizes safe, legal, and mission-ready aircraft with competent instructors. The main office at Suffolk Executive Airport offers a lightly used airport environment with open practice space. The satellite office at Newport News-Williamsburg International Airport provides experience within Class D towered airspace and interaction with security areas and heavy aircraft operations. CEFS aims to provide a clear understanding of expectations and reserves the right to change operational requirements to manage risk and exceed safety standards. Curtis and Ruby Eads started the flight school as a family business, teaching hundreds to fly. Aerofeather Aviation Inc. relocated the business to Suffolk Executive Airport in 2018 and continues to honor the Eads legacy. The school's goal is to provide safe and qualified pilots who are committed to learning from experienced instructors.
